महागौरी
Navdurga
Mahagauri is the eighth form of Durga — 'the greatly fair one'. She represents Parvati after her intense tapas had darkened her complexion, when Shiva bathed her with the waters of the Ganga and her skin became brilliantly fair again. She is the embodiment of purity, serenity, and compassion. Her worship is on Day 8 of Navratri (Maha Ashtami), the peak day of Durga Puja. Day 8 is associated with the colour pink (or purple). Devotees offer coconut and pray for forgiveness of all sins and the fulfilment of wishes. She is especially worshipped by those seeking marital harmony.
Brilliantly fair complexion, four arms holding a trident and a damaru, with the other two in abhaya and varada mudras. Riding a white bull. Wearing white garments. Gentle, compassionate expression.
