कालरात्रि
Navdurga
Kaalratri is the seventh form of Durga — 'the dark night'. She is the fiercest, most terrifying, and most powerful form of the goddess. Her complexion is deep black like the night, and her appearance is intended to frighten away evil, fear, and ignorance. Her worship is on Day 7 of Navratri, and is considered especially effective for destroying enemies, removing black magic, and conquering fear. Day 7 is associated with the colour white (or grey). Devotees offer jaggery and pray for protection from all dangers. Despite her terrifying appearance, Kaalratri is called Shubhankari — 'the one who brings auspiciousness' — because she removes everything that threatens the devotee.
Deep black complexion, disheveled hair, three fiery eyes, four arms holding a sword, an iron hook, a thunderbolt (vajra), and in abhaya mudra. Riding a donkey. Wearing a necklace flashing like lightning. Flames issue from her nostrils as she breathes.
