कात्यायनी
Navdurga
Katyayani is the sixth form of Durga. She is said to have been born to the great Sage Katyayana as a result of his austerities to have the Devi as his daughter. She is the warrior goddess who slew the buffalo demon Mahishasura — one of the most important narratives in the Durga tradition. Her worship is on Day 6 of Navratri. Day 6 is associated with the colour orange (or green). Devotees offer honey and pray for marital happiness — unmarried girls especially pray for a good husband (the Katyayani Vrata of the gopis of Vraj seeking Krishna is a famous example).
Four arms holding a sword, a lotus, and showing abhaya and varada mudras. Riding a lion. Fierce yet beautiful expression. Wearing red.
