गज लक्ष्मी
Ashta Lakshmi · Sacred Day: Friday
Gaja Lakshmi is the goddess flanked by two elephants (gaja) who shower her with water from their trunks — the most iconic and widely depicted form of Lakshmi. She represents royal prosperity, abhisheka (consecration), and the wealth that comes with authority and leadership. She grants cattle, vehicles, property, and every form of worldly abundance. This is the Lakshmi who rose from the cosmic ocean during the Samudra Manthan and chose Vishnu as her consort. The two elephants represent the eastern and western oceans consecrating her arrival.
Four arms holding lotuses and showing abhaya and varada mudras. Seated on a red lotus. Flanked by two large white elephants who pour water from golden pots held in their trunks onto her head (abhisheka). Golden complexion, adorned with jewels.
