Our pledge
Why we don’t sell ads
A panchang is a text you open before a wedding, a housewarming, a naming ceremony, a funeral rite, your ancestors’ shraddha. You turn toward it at the threshold of something that matters.
Showing you “20% off sneakers” in that moment is not a UX problem we haven’t solved yet. It is the wrong idea entirely. Ads belong in disposable media. This is not that.
What we will never do
- Serve display or native ads on any page, in any language
- Run sponsored puja vidhis, festival pages, or deity pages
- Use cross-site tracking, advertising IDs, or retargeting
- Sell, rent, or share your data with ad networks or data brokers
- Hide any panchang fact, muhurat, festival, vrat, or calculator behind a paywall
- Use dark patterns — auto-renewing “free” trials, hidden cancel flows, pre-checked opt-ins, fake countdowns
How we pay for this instead
The panchang, every language, every calculator, every festival, every vrat, every deity page, every puja vidhi, every chalisa, every stotram — stays free forever, for everyone.
If you want the convenience layer — notifications, bookmarks, multi-city digests, PDF exports, an offline cache — that’s ₹199 per year per device. One cup of filter coffee a month. That’s how we keep the servers running, the translators paid, the engine accurate, and the ads away.
You can also support us with a one-time ₹1,499 lifetime plan (first 10,000 users). Same convenience layer, no expiry.
The pledge
If the business model ever threatens these principles, we shut it down before we compromise them.
You hold us to this by watching the app. See something that looks like an ad, a tracker, or a dark pattern? Email hello@vedpanchang.com and we’ll fix it.
