राम
Major God · Sacred Day: Tuesday
Rama is the seventh avatar of Vishnu and the ideal man (Maryada Purushottama) of Hindu tradition. Born to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya and Queen Kaushalya, his life is narrated in the epic Ramayana by Sage Valmiki. Rama embodies perfect dharma as a son, husband, brother, king, and warrior. His fourteen-year exile, the abduction of his wife Sita by Ravana, and his victorious return to Ayodhya form the central narrative. Rama's rule — Ram Rajya — is held as the ideal just kingdom. He is worshipped alongside his brother Lakshmana, his wife Sita, and his devotee Hanuman. The chanting of 'Sri Ram' is considered equivalent to reciting the entire Vishnu Sahasranama.
Green or dark complexion, royal blue garments, a golden crown (kirita), a bow (Kodanda) and a quiver of arrows, a sword at the hip. Usually depicted standing beside Sita (on his left) with Lakshmana and Hanuman in attendance. Two arms (unlike other Vishnu avatars), signifying his human form.
