कूष्माण्डा
Navdurga
Kushmanda is the fourth form of Durga — 'the cosmic egg'. Her name is derived from ku (little), ushma (warmth), and anda (egg) — the 'little warm egg' of the cosmos. According to tradition, she created the universe with a mere smile in the midst of the primordial darkness. She resides in the solar sphere (surya mandala) and is the source of the sun's energy. Her worship is on Day 4 of Navratri. Day 4 is associated with the colour green (or royal blue). Devotees offer malpua and pray for health, wealth, and strength. She brings light and energy into the dark corners of life.
Eight arms holding a kamandalu, bow, arrows, lotus, a pot of nectar, a discus, a mace, and a japa mala. Seated on a lion or tiger. Radiant golden complexion surrounded by the aura of the sun.
