कृष्ण
Dashavatara · Sacred Day: Wednesday
Krishna is the eighth avatar of Vishnu and in many traditions is considered the Purna Avatara — the complete and direct incarnation of Vishnu himself. He incarnated at the end of the Dwapara Yuga to end the rule of the tyrant Kamsa, to support the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war, and to deliver the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. His playful childhood in Vrindavan, his love for Radha and the gopis, and his cosmic lessons as Partha-sarathi (Arjuna's charioteer) cover the full spectrum of human and divine life. See the main Krishna entry for his full iconography and worship.
Dark-blue complexion, yellow peetambar, peacock feather in the crown, flute at his lips. In Kurukshetra shown as charioteer holding the reins of Arjuna's chariot.
