चिन्तामणि
Ashta Vinayaka
Chintamani of Theur is the form of Ganesha who removes anxieties and grants peace of mind. According to tradition, the greedy prince Guna stole the wish-fulfilling Chintamani jewel from Sage Kapila. Ganesha intervened and returned the jewel, which the sage then offered back to Ganesha — who thus became known as Chintamani Vinayaka. The temple at Theur, on the confluence of the Bhima, Mula, and Mutha rivers near Pune, was a favourite shrine of the Peshwa rulers. Madhavrao Peshwa spent his final days here and his wife Ramabai committed sati at this temple.
Self-manifested left-trunk seated idol with carbuncles for eyes and a diamond set in the third eye position. Four arms holding a noose, goad, lotus, and modak. Accompanied by Riddhi and Siddhi on either side.
