चन्द्र
Navagraha · Sacred Day: Monday
Chandra is the Moon — the second of the Navagraha. He represents the mind (manas), emotions, mother, memory, and the feminine principle. The Moon is considered the most powerful planet after the Sun in Vedic astrology because he determines the nakshatra and the tithi — the fundamental units of the Hindu calendar. Chandra was born from the churning of the cosmic ocean. He married the 27 nakshatras (daughters of Daksha) but favoured Rohini, leading to Daksha's curse of waxing and waning. Soma, the divine drink of immortality, is his essence. Monday is sacred to him.
Fair and gentle complexion, seated in a chariot drawn by ten white horses (or antelopes). Two arms holding a white lotus and a club. Wears white, adorned with pearls.
